Dr. Fritz Faulhaber invented the Ironless Bell-Shaped Rotor more than 50 years ago today. This unique rotor is a core technology and is used in each of our DC Motors and brushless DC Motors today.
Along with first-class product features, our expertise in drive technology plays a key role in maintaining our premier position within the market. It is this in-depth knowledge, combined with our commitment to value-added services, that allows us to create drive systems of exceptional quality.
MICROMO' DC Motors differ from conventional, iron rotor DC Motors in that they are equipped with an ironless, self-supporting, skew-wound copper coil. This construction reduces the iron in the rotor, minimizing eddy current losses. This leads to efficient gains for longer life in battery applications. The rotor also rotates smoothly without cogging.
Selected Examples: Prosthetic Leg, Perfect Vision
This series of Brushless DC Servomotors is also available in an autoclavable, sterilizable version and is ideally suited for application in laboratory and medical equipment. The Brushless DC Servomotors design is modified by changing to an all stainless steel version of the motor, adjusting the lubrication, epoxy coating the motor coil, and conformally coating the PCB boards.
Sterilizing conditions for these Brushless DC Servomotors are:
Servo amplifiers are available to drive the Brushless DC Servomotors.
Other drive circuits for motion control can be offered to correspond to
customer requirements.
Selected Example: Automated Pill Dispenser
MICROMO's two-phase Stepper Motors are constructed with two different technologies. The ADM series motors are constructed with a magnetized disk magnet hub. Both designs reduce the number of components needed for assembly and provide for high reliability and outstanding shock and vibration resistance. These unique Miniature Stepper motor designs result in a reliable, powerful, and quiet motor in a very small size. The stepper motor can be controlled and positioned without feedback. This lowers cost (no encoder) and control circuit complexity.

MICROMO offers three types of DC Gearmotors, including a flat coreless Gearmotor, the flat brushless version (both with plastic, spur gearheads) and a sensorless, Brushless Gearmotor with a plastic, planetary gearhead. All three types of Gearmotors differ from conventional, iron rotor DC Motors in their coreless winding construction, and their diameter range is 3mm to 26mm.
Selected Example: Portable Infusion Pump
MICROMO spur and planetary Gearheads are ideal for combination with the MICROMO DC Motor program. Their compact construction and quiet operation are impressive. The zero-backlash spur Gearheads are perfect for positioning applications. Options and modifications to accommodate special requirements supplement an extensive standard program.
A range of different Encoders is available for applications requiring an accurate control of motor velocity, direction of rotation and positioning. The performance of a drive or servo system depends on the precision and reliability of the servo components available. MICROMO's incremental shaft Encoders are based on the optical, magnetic or capacitive design principles. To reduce cost and package size, the Encoders are mounted directly on the shaft or integrated into the motor itself.
MICROMO offers precision miniature Linear Actuators to create maximum force in minimal space. Custom electronics allow force, speed and position control.
